Oil Painting – A Collection of # 52 Canvas Designs

Oil Painting – A Collection of # 52 Canvas Designs

by Priti on October 9, 2013

Give a life to your space by using oil paintings on the walls as focal point of your room. Yes, even a non-artist can do it. I have a collection of 52 designs from the most typical, modern and abstract to simple designs. Go, give it a try!

Oil Painting: Comprising Modern, Abstract, Canvas and Landscape Designs

Oil painting is a painting technique where in oil is used as a medium for paints to liquidize and the designs are drawn over a piece of canvas. Is that it? That’s the only thing oil painting is all about?  Nah…we have lot more to discuss about its technique, strokes  color mixing, phew….and lots more.

Yes, we will cover it all in one post. In this post album you will be able to take a glance and get some motivation from # 52 designs, if you are scared of using oil paints, just like me. Don’t know why am I getting attracted towards canvas painting day by day.

While I was searching for various canvas paintings online, there was a moment when I was totally freaked out! :-o Literally, I saw some of the out of the world wall art using oil painting techniques. In short I would say, I was scared to look at the paintings with shout-out messages behind it. I couldn’t dare to share it over here. It’s just in my mind and soul now.

Seriously, I mean kudos and standing ovation to all the artist across the world, they have concepts behind every art they make. And the hidden truth is always awesome!

I want to begin this collection with some unusual Indian pictures drawn to the best one can. While you will find the tips, tricks and tutorial in between the post.

Indian Oil Paintings

Portrait of an Indian women. Whoa! the only thing highlighted in the above painting is ek chutki sindoor and I am loving the red color so much.

Indian Modern Art

Tanjore painting, on of its form and creativity depicting the Rajas and Maharajas, is one of its kind and is worth trying. Sensuous in looks and really awe-inspiring.

Do you know the reason behind most of the spa’s having paintings or sculptures of Buddha in their interior? Well, one of the reason is to have peace and ambiance in the atmosphere, you must go for a Buddha wall art painting for your home as well…it is said to be like “an invitation to the positive energies“.

Hey, this is not a real image. Googly? It’s an oil painting! Yes, I usually don’t lie , even I was spell-bound to see the two painting of South Indian girls below. Wish, I could refine my art skills like this one with so much of detailing and making it look so real.

Its actually quite tough for beginners to learn painting on canvas with large-sized canvas. I think these small wall arts are great enough to learn painting techniques and display it beautifully.

Wall Art with Canvas Painting

Let me start off with the stuffs you need for oil painting.

Materials required for Canvas Painting:

1. A piece of canvas.

2. Oil paints, thinners and oil as medium. Commonly used linseed oil, safflower, walnut or poppy oils.

3. Brushes of different types, from flat fans brushes to the liner ones.

4. Knife to mix the colors & color plate.
